Rally is one of the newest AKC sports and participation increases every year. Whether you just train or decide to compete, Rally develops better teamwork between you and your dog.
Rally is all about teamwork. You and your dog navigate a course together, side-by-side, at your own brisk pace. You move him through a course with signs where he performs different exercises. The courses are designed by the Rally judge (10-20 signs per course, depending on the class level) that include various turns and commands such as sit, down, stay, etc.
Unlimited communication from the handler to the dog is to be encouraged and not penalized. While touching isn’t allowed, you can use verbal commands, clap your hands, pat your legs and use hand signals to praise and encourage your dog.
What will we learn in class?
In the Novice Rally Class, you and your dog will be introduced to the wonderfull world of Rally including introduction to the signs or skills you and your dog needs to progress to a course. In our Intermediate/Advanced Rally classes, you will continue to build upon those skills and perfect your teamwork advancing to running full course and improving your time and technique.
What do I need to do before class?
Your dog doesn’t need any specific skills to come to this class, but a overall basic training class would be helpful. We do need your dogs current vaccination records prior to class.
What is your payment/cancellation/missed class policy?
For our 6-week classes there are not any make up opportunities for missed weeks. Once you progress into our drop-in classes, you are able to skip weeks and only attend when you can. As long as you give 48 hours notice, we will refund/credit you if you need to remove your registration for any reason. Please view our cancellation policy here: https://twopaws-up.com/our-policies/our-cancellation-policy/
How do I register my dog?
You can register your dog online or by giving us a call at 847-235-2263.
